My GLAMGLOW Experience: A Full GLAMGLOW Review

24 Mar

So I bought this stuff…. Be prepared. This is going to be a long post.

If you haven’t yet heard about Glam Glow, I’ll fill you in on just what this magical mud is about. This product is a mud mask that has a number of chemical complexes and plant based extracts that work to clean extremely deep into pores and extract the excess dirt and oil…. including blackheads. Yes, Blackheads.

I saw an interesting photo on Pinterest that took me to a link to a blog about Glam Glow. I instantly was intrigued and researched a bit about this product. Of course the more I read about it, the more I felt I NEEDED to try it. Let me tell you about my skin.

I have chronic redness around my nostrils as well as on the tops of both of my cheekbones. I’ve had that ever since I can remember, and I don’t know how to get rid of it. I have deep pores on my cheeks on either side of my nose, and on my nose, my pores actually stick up. I don’t know why they do, but they always have. It has been next to impossible to get rid of my blackheads. I have always had them since I was about 13 years old. And believe me, I’ve tried almost everything.

My current skin care routine consists of makeup removing wipes, cleanser, gently exfoliating (once every 2 days), murad pore refining gel, and Clinique clarifying lotion. I moisturize my skin daily as well. I take pretty good care of my skin. Its just kind of stubborn skin. But let’s get on with the more interesting part, how Glam Glow worked for me.

The packaging on this stuff was pretty darn cute.

I was so excited to try this stuff. I must admit, I giggled when I opened it. Good one, Glam Glow. Your ploy of making me smile worked. Somehow it just made me like 1000 times more excited to try it once I saw this…. I’m weird. I don’t know.

There were so many layers to this box. It was madness. There was a little paper foldout that came with it that explains how it works.

I’m not sure if I can get in trouble for posting pics of it or not, but I’ll give you the low down of what’s in it and why it works the way it does. If you’re not into the science-y part of it (which it personally why I found it exciting), you can scroll on down to the next photo to just see my results.

The first part of this miracle mud consists of a clearing treatment called Acnecidic-6.

This treatment is made up of 6 different acids in balance with one another to create amazingly fast skin clearing results. These acids include:

  1. Glycolic to help restore photo damaged skin and improve skin’s texture.
  2. Salicylic to help unclog and minimize pores, and rejuvenate skin.
  3. Lactic to help pigmentation, moisture, stimulation, and skin collagen.
  4. Mandelic helps fine lines, wrinkles, aging skin, and skin elasticity.
  5. Pyruvic – helps the effects of scarring and clearer skin.
  6. Azelaic – Helps fight follicle bacteria and breakouts.

The next part of the Glam Glow concoction is the Pore-Matrix™.

The ingredient that does this is Activated-X Charcoal, which is an extreme absorption carbon. What this does is work to extract the oil, bacteria, and toxins from your skin. It can attract up to 500 times its mass.

Then comes the plant based parts. Or as they put it, Bio-Life-Cell-Science. Cool, eh?

  1. Eucalyptus leaf to fight toxic skin complications.
  2. Licorice Root to help regulate and alleviate problem skin.
  3. Peppermint plant to help control bacteria and irritations.
  4. Chamomile to help inflammation and regeneration.
  5. Marigold to help fight viral and microbial issues.
  6. Comfrey Herb to help Analgesic Recovery (pain relief)
  7. Aloe Vera to help healing and rejuvenation
  8. Ivy to help relieve itching and tightens skin (anti aging)
  9. Cucumber to help sooth and Calm skin

The best part about the Eucalyptus is what they did to amp it up. They stuck chunks of Eucalyptus leaves which have a time-release formula of Eucalyptol, Linalool oil and Flavanoids for healing, hydration, and protection. CRAZY.

So the mud itself has a pretty intense minty scent. The peppermint extract really stands out for sure.

I applied a thin layer to my skin and I could almost immediately feel it tingling. I expected a lot more of an intense tingle, but I found it no more intense than any other “cleansing and purging” or menthol mask.

I didn’t get the greatest “during” phots, but as you can see, the powerful extractors were doing their job on my nose and cheeks.

As you can see, once it was completely dry, it extracted a hefty amount of gunk from my skin in my T-Zone area. When I rinsed it away, it turned into a gentle exfoliator, and I could tell my skin felt incredibly smooth.

A close up of the “after” skin. As you can see, my nose is significantly better. The redness around my nose and on my cheeks went WAY down. Overall I was really impressed with how it performed. I know that it didn’t get absolutely everything out of my pores, but it did quite a bit.

I used it again about 5 days later. Here are some photos showing that.

Now in all my brilliance, I didn’t take any “After” photos, but my results were similar to the first time I did the mask. For this reason, I’m thinking if you do the mask more often until your skin is completely clean (once every two days or so), you might get better results. I’m going to try to use it more often until I find my skin improves to its best condition. After that I’ll continue to use it maybe one to two times per month for “maintenance”. I honestly feel like this product is worth the money. You can find it at Sephora or numerous online outfits for around $69. I bought mine at Sephora.

I’ll keep you updated on how this continues working for me in the future. Let me know any questions you have in the comments, and if you’ve tried Glam Glow, let me know how it worked for you!

2012 Makeup Looks You Missed

2 Mar

Here you’ll find a collection of a few of the cool looks I did over the course of the year 2012 that I never posted about. I’ll describe them, and if you’d like me to show you how I  did any of them, let me know in the comments.

This is what I wore for Thanksgiving. I know its kind of impossible to actually see, but I did an Olive smokey eye with a peach and gold ombre lip and peach blush.

This was a blue and purple look with heavy liner that I did with just a simple rose coloured blush and nude lip.

This was taken at a Benefit concert I was helping organize for a family friend going through breast cancer treatments. Of course I had to do pink. So for this one I had used only matte shades, with white in the inner corners fading out to a hot pink in the outer corners, and black in the crease. I also did a slight wing. I had bright pink lips, and apparently no blush at all according to this photo haha. I’m pretty sure I actually was wearing blush though……

I was really bored one night and came up with this one. Red smokey eye, SUPER heavy liner, and stronger contour than I would ever really wear. Paired it up with a red and gold lip, though the flash on my camera didn’t do any justice for the gold. I just wanted to something slightly theatrical and bold. I liked it.

This was a green and black look I wore to work one day. I used a tinge of purple just above the black to help blend it out. It turned out pretty cool.

If you see any looks you’d like to see a blog post dedicated to *tutorial style* let me know in the comments. Have a great day! 🙂

Holy Moly.

2 Mar

I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I’ve posted anything. Un. Real. A lot has changed since then.

  1. Joel and I moved out of his parents house and into an actual house of our own, which by the way is kinda like…. falling apart….. but still awesome because its ours. ^_^
  2. I worked numerous jobs including Claire’s and Clinique… which were both awesome, but both had negatives as well. So I found myself searching for a full time position, and found one at a car dealership. Good money, Benefits, I never have to work nights, and I get to sleep in on weekends. Awesome.
  3. I got mother freaking engaged bro!Image

Pretty cool eh? His late Grandmother’s ring. So gorgeous. I’m in love with it. And I’m in love with him. And now I’m done being cheesy. Let’s move on.

So I’m going to go ahead and get right to the “excuses for not posting” part of this entry. Now, I know that there have been tons of times that I could have posted SOMETHING just to get it out there, if I felt like it…. but somehow life just got in the way and decided that spending time with Joel or watching TV or movies was more what I wanted to do. And I somehow convinced myself that that was true. However, its taken me a bit of time to realize that that’s not at all what I want (minus the spending time with Joel part…. of course I want that haha). I want to show you what I love to do. I want to show you the best parts of myself in hopes that I can kick myself out of last year’s funk. Last year was a good year, but it came with a lot of challenges. Last year meant changing everything I knew, and stopping being myself and in turn becoming “Joel’s girlfriend”. I love my life, and I have accepted what I’ve been dealt. But sometimes a girl just needs to do what she wants to make her happy – and that is what this blog is going to be for, from now on. I’m going to try and post one day a week, probably Saturdays because Joel always sleeps in, and I’m always up early. Plus the mutts like to snooze in the early morning.

Yeah I don’t know why they chose that position either. Its funny as hell though, am I right???

Anyways, I don’t want to bore you all with the reasons I chose not to post, I just want to get back into the swing. My next post will be photos of the looks I’ve done over the past year that I liked enough to actually photograph. Hope you like them.  🙂

I’d like to give a special thanks to Sara who reminded me of what really makes me happiest, and that I should get back in gear on this thing. Thanks girl. I owe ya one.

What’s in my phone?

19 May

So this is random. But I thought I would create a post showing you all of the apps in my phone, and maybe give you some recommendations of my favorite apps and games. I’ll let you know, I do use an android phone. I have the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant (first edition). I think its crazy that I’ve had this phone for less than two years (on contract) and its already obsolete…. I digress. Here’s my layout.

This is my home screen. As you can see I have all of my apps organized into folders so I don’t have to swype between pages. The picture in the background is my new puppy Wally. The apps at the top are all apps that come standard with the galaxy. I keep play store (the app store), my alarm clock, my camera and the cart and desk home apps. Those two apps are basically a home screen for the main apps you would use in the car (navigation, maps, phone, etc.), or on your desk at night time (phone, messaging, alarm clock, etc.). I use the desk one a lot, not really the car one because my car isn’t bluetooth enabled and I like life, so I drive safely without using my phone.

This is my networking folder. In here as you can see are all of my social networking apps.  My favorite right now is instagram! Love it!! (not going to pressure you, but you can follow me @malankybee if you want to. 🙂 )

Next I have my beauty folder. In here are all of my beauty related apps (really…..? You don’t say…) My favorite is total beauty. Its completely user based reviews on products from almost every brand of cosmetics. Love it!

Next folder is the word games folder. It houses just a couple apps. I like the word search app which I feel does not need an explanation. I’d like to ask though, does anyone know of an android app for word searches that had numbers, or twisted words, or leftover letter puzzles…..? I’m an old woman trapped in the body of a 21 year old. I love word search puzzles. Comment if you know of any more complicated apps. Thanks!

Next over is my music folder. In here I have the only app I’ve ever paid for, ultimate guitar. My guitar tuner app, a music downloader, shazam…. All that good jazz. I do play guitar and I’ve been playing for almost 8 years. I don’t have anything recent posted, but if you’d like, you can find me on the youtubes. I have a few vids up from back in the day, But not too many. Don’t get high hopes. I’m not that amazing. I promise. Moving on…..

This I’d say is probably the folder I use most often. My games folder. If you don’t have playscape, get it. If you do, get ninja chicken and ninja run. Seriously, they both have ninja in the title. How could they not be awesome?

Next is my health folder. I don’t have a whole bunch in here, but I for sure would recommend dinner spinner, and myfitnesspal.

This is my destinations folder. It has all of my apps for maps and locations. I think it comes standard now on most androids, but I love the places app. Its totally my favorite. You can search any type of business or location and then view reviews, maps, phone numbers, websites etc. Its wicked cool.

This is my productivity folder. I use these apps rarely….. Because I’m unproductive….. Lol most of these come standard on android.

This is my last folder. This is where I keep my finance apps. I legally use nearly every single day. I definitely recommend.

As you may have noticed, I have a link to my camera app in every folder as well as on my home page. My dogs do ridiculous and hilarious things all the time and I don’t like missing out on being able to take photos. Its always easy to get to my camera that way.

If you have any apps you love or think I should try please leave a comment below and I’ll be sure to check them out. Thanks!! Have a great day!! 🙂

I live in places… On the internets…

11 May

Hey everyone. Just thought I should make it known that even though I’m not really posting on the word press much these days, I do post quite a bit on Instagram and twitter if any of you should care to follow me there. Both of those, you can find me as Malankybee. I do post some beauty related things on those, but mainly just life things. Pics of my dogs and randomocity…. O_o….

just thought I’d throw that out into the universe for all y’all. Have a great day!
